Its forbidden to shrink the bad guys?

It seems like an unwritten rule somehow, they could have avoided all the fighting by miniaturizing their opponents. Doesnt have to so small that they could be accidentally stepped on and killed but small enough to be seen and not be a threat.

reply

Don't you have to have a size-changing device strapped to your person in order to be miniaturized?

If so, I invite you to go out and try and strap an electronic device to some guy who's trying to beat you up.

reply

If they could turn anything big on the fly it should be able to work the other way round, did u miss how the Wasp is able to block the baddies with a gaint salt pepper?

reply

Otter is right. They need to have special suits to do that, otherwise they'll die. We see this in the first movie where the bad guy killed a guy and later a test-subject goat. Ant-Man and Wasp seem to avoiding killing.

reply

Yeah, but they are bad guys so... who cares if they die?

reply

Ask Scott and Hope.

reply

Imagine inf Hope had shrunk the mobster that tried to blackmail her, how much trouble could have been avoided?

reply

Some heroes have a no-kill code. But yeah, she could have gotten out of trouble. Although I just now remembered that Scott killed Yellowjacket in the last movie but that was a bit of a desperation move.

reply

Sure, but no such code was stated in the movie and they seem to have little care for the passengers whose cars they crashed or the like.

reply

That’s virtually every superhero who ends up fighting bad guys in the middle of a big city/around civilians and soon destruction follows (at least this has been addressed in previous Marvel movies). But honestly I didn’t think Scott & Hope put random people at risk compared to their fellow superheroes.

Most of these heroes tend to break the rules in order to prevent more chaos anyway. I wouldn’t overthink it.

reply

So killing dozens+ random people in the city - acceptable rulebreaking.

Killing a couple evil people - not acceptable rulebreaking.

reply

Sure. If this is something you just can’t let go and it keeps you up at night, then take your complaints to the superhero complaint department. Or simply the people who make the decisions (the writers behind all forms of good guys vs. bad guys works of fiction). Clearly we can’t help you with your issue.

reply

Well, they had shot/thrown these remote devices that could minituarize other items, would it not work on human as well?

reply

Maybe because the other items don't breathe

Just a theory - they need the suits because air molecules are too big for tiny lungs to process (or too small for giant lungs, when he grows huge and passes out)

The heroes' cars could be airtight, with internal atmosphere that shrinks and grows along with them

Bottom line, it's all comic-book-movie science anyway, but they did establish how difficult it was for Cross to shrink living tissue without killing it

reply

I mean, you dont need them to breath afterwards, or do anything else.

If heroe's cars are airtight they would die of asphyxiation. I never saw them carry oxygen tanks in these cars.

reply

Had not noticed, you are absolutely right

In the original movie, the issue that Darren Cross had was figuring out how to miniaturize organic beings. He's already figured out how to shrink non-biological items (cars, houses, toys) but couldn't uncover how Hank Pym had achieved his breakthrough.

He finally "gets it" when he takes a test animal and miniaturizes it, while it's in a case of the shrinking instruments. When he'd tried to previously shrink animals, they always ended up deteriorating into a non-living blob of organic material.

The ONLY issue I had with Ant-Man and the Wasp, was when they're in the kids school and he removes his helmet, due to his suit skipping and growing him too large or not shrinking him enough. If you go by the science I reference above and established in the first Ant-Man, he couldn't have taken off his helmet while in a enhanced/diminished size mode.
