Didn't even need to see the probable lesser film. How could you remake McQueen's character better? The scene in the boat, while being transported, slipping out of his bunk with a knife,after gossip,etc was etched in my mind in the 70's."I was born skinny" quote, alligator wrestling,etc.Steve and Dustin---good enough---no,great enough.

Pointless remake. Did they really think they were going to improve on McQueen and Hoffman? Not only that, but the original was even in color, so the black-and-white phobes can watch it.
