During the first two seasons, I thought this was a feminist show

as all the strongest characters seemed to be female (Ruth, Wendy, Darlene), but by season four, they all revealed themselves to be idiots. Darlene killed people for virtually no reason, could have resolved the poppy field issue just by buying more remote land and planting there, but no, and it got her killed. Ruth seems intent on getting herself killed by killing a cartel boss and taking over a casino they use to launder money. Wendy hamstrings the pragmatic and smart Marty at every turn with her endless ambition. Rachel signs on to the idiotic plan to take over the cartel casino, thus putting her own life in danger. Camila is a psychopath that killed her own brother (Omar Navarro) for power even after learning he didn't kill Javi. The women on this show were just awful.

I agree with you. The show feels half feminist YAAAS WOMEN OMG and half "Exhibit A through Z on why women should never hold power." I think it's a bit of both. Most of the crazy situations the characters get into (and occasional subsequent deaths) wouldn't have happened if Jason Bateman's character had had a spine and actually stood up to the women around him by taking charge and telling them where to stick it. Maybe it's a cautionary tale about the consequences of men giving unprepared, over emotional women power they have no business wielding.
