Are the Byrds really out?

I haven't read a lot of posts here but most critics and reviewers seem to think the Byrds got out like they wanted. I don't see that for several reasons. The biggest one being who will run the casino and launder the cartel's money? I don't think Rachel is prepared to do that and it is in the best interest of both the FBI and the cartel to keep it going. So either (or both) of them will force Marty back into business.

Then there is the situation with Mel Sattem. I didn't totally understand where his relationship with Maya ended, but I'll bet she will pursue finding out where he has gone and if so she's like a dog with a bone.

I agree with you.

About Sattem, there's a theory where Jonah shot the cookie jar and not Sattem, therefore destroying the one evidence he had against the Byrds. I don't know anything about forensics, and wouldn't know if shooting a jar full of ashes and the remains with a shotgun could in fact destroy DNA evidence. My guess would be no, it doesn't. But it's theory I read somewhere.

A shotgun blast wouldn't destroy the ashes or the DNA. It would destroy the jar and scatter the ashes on the ground, making it harder to collect them and prove chain of custody. But there's no chain of custody already -- Sattem had no warrant, he stole the jar, and it's not clear there's any usable DNA after cremation, even if a judge would ever allow it.

It was just way out of character for Sattem to put himself in mortal danger with nothing to gain by it. He could do more good in the Chicago PD solving crimes than by pursuing the Byrdes to (likely) no avail, and continuing to take pictures of cheating spouses for divorce settlements.

I don't think Marty would be required to do the laundering. The whole point of laundering money is to fool the government, but since they know about it and are now in on the scheme, I wouldn't think it would need to be laundered as before. The government could just plant one of their people at the casino to handle the transfers.

The Sattem situation made no sense to me. He breaks into their house, takes the only evidence linking them to Ben's death, and then sits outside waiting for them to come home so that he can tell them all about it. I suppose he thought they would all just let him escort them to the police station after that. Would have been better if they had come home to catch him in the process, but for him to just be sitting there waiting for them was dumb.

The FBI was definitely going to continue laundering thus the immunity agreement they gave Ruth. Also I think the FBI was trying to keep this whole scheme from the DEA and IRS.

A couple of other things. I was expecting Ruth to let slip to Camila that the Byrds knew about her killing Javi (let alone actually being there). Eventually that truth will come out.

I don't think we ever heard specifics about the agreement between the FBI and Omar or Javi or Camila such as what percentage of their revenue would be turned over to the FBI. Would it just be a "breakage" percent like Marty told Javi? And how long before other members of the cartel get suspicious about the seizures.

Camila would have already figured out how Ruth knew that Javi would be in Chicago.

No, they're not out. The FBI will need Marty to help run the scheme, Wendy doesn't have nearly enough money in her foundation to be untouchable, and she ran off her mouth to Schaeffer so he knows they set up Navaro to be killed. He has other friends in the cartel no doubt who will hunt them down. Plus Jonah is now a killer and will always be liable for future prosecution (as will Wendy for having Ben killed). There's no statute of limitations on murder.
