Season 3 Final Episode (Spoiler)

When Helen got her brains blown out and the blood went all over Wendy and Marty the symbolism was powerful. In this one scene, along with Navarro hugging them the rest of the series will build. It was a significant turn of events. I am predicting for season 4 it will be revealed Helen contacted the Lagunas cartel because Navarro is losing the war and planned on jumping ship. And she would somehow use the casinos she stole from the Byrd's as an offering to the Lagunas cartel.

Special Agent Maya Miller will turn in Season 4.

I don't know, I was rather disappointed in the last couple episodes of the season. The middle of the season, for roughly four episodes after the trip to Mexico, was excellent, but then it started to sag. I think they spent too much time on the brother, really. There needed to be more tension between Marty and Wendy, that was a good storyline that just sort of disappeared with the therapist. Which doesn't really make sense, at least with no explanation. Also, we never found out what the K.C. kid creeping in the house was doing. That was interesting, they could have told us more about it. It was a better season than I expected though. They killed off my favorite actor of the bunch in the previous season (Peter Mullan). The storyline between Darlene and Wyatt was pretty great though. And I did like the brother, but the balance of the last two or three episodes was way off spending too much time on him. Anyway, eye of the beholder.

Peter Mullen played a great character and I remember saying "NO" out loud when Darlene killed him because I liked his voice of reason compared to Darlene's insanity so much. He was a likable character. It's become a Female Foward show. The brother's acting was intense. I enjoyed his performance and actually thought to myself his acting was too good and too deep for a TV show. And thought his level of emotion should be isolated to film. I know that may not make any sense? It could also have been Over Acting and I just don't know any better. I was happy with the intensity and level of rub between Wendy and Marty. The brother was an important distraction and killing him pulls Wendy in so far there is no going back. I think the series has two more seasons remaining. One to build the empire and everything goes right and the 2nd when it all falls apart. I won't like it when it all falls apart but I'll still watch. I am also wondering what their version of "Better Call Saul" will be and if they will have one?

I agree the brother's acting was good, I just felt the story was overly weighted towards him. It was kind of odd that they had Ruth's character change for no reason (that I could tell anyway). I like dynamic characters, but I also feel like their changes should be motivated. If I'm generous, I'd say her shifting loyalties made her lose confidence, but I feel like I'm finishing the story for them then. Anyway, there's probably an explanation somewhere on a cutting room floor.

I am curious how season 4 will explain why Navarro killed Helen. Navarro liked Marty and Wendy, so he probably didn't like the idea of Helen trying to take over the Casino.

I didn't rewatch S1, so I don't recall if we know why Navarro was torturing Helen at the beginning of S2? Maybe that explains it? Or, maybe Navarro respected Wendy's sacrifice and wanted to demonstrate reciprocity? Helen was a known double-crosser, and Navarro did seem to know everything. Maybe it'll be explained in S3? I doubt it, but it would be nice.

Helen's husband filed for custody of their kids, so Navarro assumed he must know something about the nature of her work if he (the husband) thinks he actually has a case.

I think Navarro is very perceptive, and knew what Helen was doing from the moment she started complaining to him about the Byrdes. When Marty and Wendy helped him end the cartel war, there was no longer any reason to keep Helen around.

Interesting theory.
With such a back-stabbing snake as her I wouldn't rule it out.
