The film was quite slowly paced and ticks a lot of the clichés in Korean period film genre.
It does have some charm though.
The lead actor, Choi Min-Sik (Oldboy), is brilliant as usual.
The tiger looked rather alright for a Korean film's CGI.
I thought the first action scene with the tiger was really gripping and enjoyed it immensely.
Downsides are:
Of course, Japanese soldiers are useless one dimensional fodders.
The tiger having a ridiculous relationship with the main character. (I was sure they'd kiss in one scene towards the end)
The second action scene being a straight copy of the first.
It's not bad but I say it had a huge potential to be a great film that I can't help but feel a bit disappointed with the end product.
6/10
