The clock on the wall
I noticed when Lily was talking about summer being endless that the second hand on the clock on the wall had stopped moving. When the camera panned away and she said that autumn had finally arrived, the second hand started moving again. I thought it was a cute little touch!
And the text shown on screen from The Lady in the Walls was mostly the beginning of the story of Polly, but some of it was what Lily said at the beginning of the movie about not being required to wear white, but doing it anyway; and also what she said about it showing the patients that nothing could touch her and the claw of death.
The whole movie had a bit of a "weird fiction" vibe to me. Even when nothing bad was going on, it made me feel unsettled. I loved what they did with Lily's voice as she was monologuing, it sounded like an old recording or something?
