No explanation at all as to where Cathy Mueller is. A total slap to the fans and to the character, who was great in Season 1.

Among other things...

To put it in perspective, Jack Ryan goes from the commando riverboat reconnaissance mission to Caracas, to London, back to Caracas, and finally back to the commando team while the commando team is STILL running around the jungle. It’s absolutely ridiculous. These guys have been running around the jungle for weeks while Jack’s off running around the world.

And this Max guy keeps teleporting around being able to predict where Jack and company are at any given moment, absolutely dumb.

What annoyed me the most is that Jack bangs the girl he just meets at the hotel lounge without a care in the world for his girlfriend back at home. Hard to root for your main character when he’s being a total a$$hole.

I can’t remember which episode it is but Ryan definitely said he was single so he didn’t have a girlfriend back home. Would have been good to acknowledge the fact he was with Cathy in the first season, and let us know what happened though!

I have just started Season 2 and wow - what an ‘about face’ they have done as far as his relationship with Cathy and just his overall ‘Boy Scout’ demeanour.

Clearly some idiot producer has decided they need to ‘sex’ his character up a bit to make him a bit more racy?

Him having a one night stand with a woman he meets in a bar is just so far against the ‘Jack Ryan’ moral code it really, really bugged me.

And whilst I didn’t think he has that much chemistry with Abbie Cornish who played Cathy in Season 1, it just seems bizarre to me they have gotten rid of her altogether and made him single.

That's where I stopped watching. It stopped being Jack Ryan at that point.

You do know that Cathy said she wanted to "keep it casual", right?

If a girl told me that, I'd consider myself a free agent.

The GF struggled to keep her weight down IRL. A few test sequences with a substitute was shot but she was subsequently written out of the show all together.

I like Abbie Cornish and liked her in S1. I didn't mind Jack getting seduced by a honey trap in S2. He clearly wasn't with Cathy or didn't feel he was, as instantly went for the Noomi Rapace character. I wish they would have done more with that. If Jack is single, they could have gone sexier with the show and that would be just fine with me. But it was nice to see Abbie Cornish back in the final season.
