Hollywood Capitalizing on Current Events

Smart. It is tough to come up with new superheros and ideas placed in past movies. Now days, movies are created around current events. I remember my mom saying that the movie industry was not doing well because ideas can only be thrown around so much; however, current events allow more to work with.

reply

How is it current in anyway?

If you read on this movie's wiki page, it says that similar situations were taking place in Alabama. They even shot this movie in two cities in Alabama.

reply

"similar situations were taking place in Alabama."

Can you expand on this? There is nothing on the wiki page that alludes to this, other than the fact that it was shot in Alabama.

reply

What was the movie about? What happens in the movie? What is Alabama KNOWN for in history? Were there shootings in Alabama that related to what was in the movie?

These are the questions only you can ask yourself and answer. I would, but I do not want to give the plot away.

reply

I seen the movie, you can just preface a statement with "spoiler" if you're afraid to give something away.

The movie industry these days centers around blockbusters--if it can't make triple its budget in the first weekend, it's considered a flop (which is ridiculous). Unfortunately that means many creative ideas get passed on because they aren't guaranteed to be an explosive hit. I'm just glad Peele was able to get in touch with the right people who could get this film produced.

reply

That is about the actual the idea. It is harder when there are so many people who want to be actors and they are passed up for the people, who are either relatives of movie crew or who, to an agent, look like they would be profitable.

reply

Those events happened in Alabama a long time ago. Nothing "Current event" about it. However, a unique plot and storyline perhaps

reply

You would be surprised. There were many events in 2016 to 2017 that were similar.
