1931's Dracula, Only Twice As Long

Tedious, overlong, drab, stale, and not at all scary. A rehash of Dracula, so everything feels inevitable and boring. Willem Dafoe is the only bright spark in the entire slog, but consequently his scenery-chewing doesn't fit with the rest of the film. On the plus side, the film does have a great aesthetic, for whatever that's worth. And at least it's not a musical.

film is painfully long, and very LOUD.
the 1979 version of Nosferatu aka 'Dracula' without the copyrights is still supreme.

i was really disappointed the dude did not disintegrate to ashes at the end..

My screening wasn't particularly loud, but yeah, the whole movie was kinda pointless. It had nothing new to say, and it was totally anticlimactic. I'm surprised at the high ratings overall. A few major critics saw it for what it really is (or isn't), but many others seem taken with it somehow.
