New on Netflix

Not much information on this show yet. It's on my Netflix splash page as a Netflix original. I've put it on my watchlist and will check back here when I start to watch. I just started Doctor Foster and am enjoying that for now.

I see that you and I get the same kind of Netflix recommendations. I'll either be starting this or Doctor Foster tonight.

I'm glad to see more talk about this show now and it sounds like a good one! I finished Doctor Foster and loved it, so I will get to this one soon.

For those who have Amazon Prime, there is an original show filmed in Iceland called Fortitude. It's a crime drama with a little science fiction twist, really good. I'm hoping a second season will be released soon.

reply

Fortitude was on the now defunct Pivot channel and I really liked it. I hope there is going to be a second season.

reply

And that makes three of us :) although I started watching *Case" today...

reply

I'm four episodes in and it's great!

Yes, thankfully something new from the Nordic group. I've exhausted the MHZ offerings that tend to be few and far between on new arrivals. Thank goodness Netflix and Amazon Prime finally woke up to the heavy interest in all things Nordic and are providing more than just the big name series that are internationally known.

Thank you Netflix!

(Parenthetically, a really fun Nordic series "Black Widows" has appeared recently through Acorn TV. It's a very entertaining "dramedy" with offbeat humor, and a bit of satire with the serious business of murder. Let the title be your spoiler. Those who remember Oskar from "Beck" will find him a nutty character in this doing nude yoga in which we see more of him from certain angles than we wish to! ha)

Am two eps in and love "Case."

It won't grab the interest of folks who prefer a big kick off with action packed scenes to draw you in.

But for those who relish really slow-burners that just give you tiny bits along the way about the interesting characters that keep you guessing as to their internal worlds and what movivates them, then this is a show for you!

Even two eps in, we are just being spoon fed bits and pieces of the main characters' profiles--are they good? Bad? Complexly conflicted? We don't know yet! Whether or not each person is a goodie or a baddie, seems still up for grabs. So far, very few people seem entirely one or the other. (Except for two of the guys who have shown their hand a bit, but I won't say more.)

Love that.

reply

Just finished it. Really good. Finale was excellent....seems to set up for a season 2 also...

reply

i also just finished it and enjoyed it, as i enjoyed doctor foster.
imdb should have a recommend-post button so one could agree without making repetitious posts.

reply

I loved the 1st few episodes, but halfway through it COMPLETELY changes the plot, then does that 2 more times. By the finale, I realized-WTF??? Those early red herrings just STOPPED-no resolution. I think they really just needed to stretch this to 9 episodes, when it would have filled 3 tops.

Like others in this post, Case appeared on my Netflix landing page, so I took the plunge. Was not disappointed by Doctor Foster, another landing page rec. :)

reply

I too got the rec for Doctor Foster... Hmm. Will have to check it out!
So far, I'm on ep 6 of Case and it's definitely a slow burn (but a good one)!

reply

Is this subtitled?

reply

Finished Doctor Foster yesterday (loved it) and just started watching Case.
Netflix is great and I love all dark series like the Fall, the Killing, Wallander, Hinterland, Happy Valley, River, Run, etc.

reply

I really, really liked River and was so disappointed to learn that it was not going to get a second season.

reply

Yes, it is subtitled on Netflix.
