Millie Bobby Brown: Born in Spain, and now a British citizen, who today splits her time between London and Atlanta.

Not exactly a what people think of when you say "American actress."

reply

The majority of her work is american produced and her characters are american, so she's definitely considered an american actress.

reply

LOL, c'mon man. That's not how it works.

reply

Her family moved to the US when she was a child, and she grew up here. And, like Burk pointed out, she acts in American-made films playing American parts, so it's a bit of a stretch to call her a foreign actress. Do you consider, say, Natalie Portman to be an American actress, or an Israeli actress because she was born in Israel?

reply

I think Millie still being a British citizen and today, at least according to what I've read, spending much of her time in London, makes it difficult for me to think of her as American.

reply

No, he's right.

Almost all the commanders or people in charge on the "good" side were black (lol?)

The Mexican/Spanish tech conglomerate seemed anachronistic even for a sci-fi flick.

The more realistic villain should have been a Chinese backed mega-corp backed by the CCP who wanted to flex their might with a Mechagodzilla so they would no longer need to rely on Godzilla to protect them. That would have been the most believable storyline, but as we all know you can't make the Chinese the villains in anything anymore.

Most Naval commanders are also white.

And even the white leads that they had were all foreign, like really?

Rebecca Hall: British
Millie Bobbie Brown: British
Demian Bichir: Mexican
Julian Dennison: Kiwi
Alexander Skarsgard: Swedish
Shun Oguri: Japanese
Eiza Gonzalez: Mexican

These are just the main actors, with only Bryan Tyree Henry and Kyle Chandler being American. The international flavor is probably part of the reason the film is doing well worldwide as it's not just an all-american cast.

reply

Diversity hires. The movie really suffered because of it.
