Portrays intimacy really well

The residents of Insecure, partially based on Issa Rae’s web-series Awkward Black Girl, are less outwardly resentful of those around them. In fact, the series’ greatest strength so far is how well Rae portrays intimacy, whether between best friends or struggling lovers. The former grouping is represented by Rae’s character Issa and Molly (Yvonne Orji). Issa works for a non-profit aimed at helping underprivileged kids reach college and beyond. Molly is a successful lawyer, juggling the work itself and the office’s overwhelmingly white make-up (“I don’t see color, I just see someone who’ll make me coffee” a co-worker says about a new black woman hire). Issa deals with this issue as well, in a fascinating and maddening paradox: those at the non-profit both expect her to know the answers for helping other black kids, but still reject her and leave her out of important decisions. She’s both given too much responsibility and not enough trust: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/tv/tv-reviews/beyond-westworld/

I will have to watch this. It sounds like it could be very good.
