Forgettable movie that could have been memorable with the right production team.

To start - bloated run time and too much time spent on other things. This dude who is trying to get his life straight just decides to go run on this highly dangerous job without even thinking about it? This should have been fleshed out more with less time just driving around and listening to quirky dialogue between the cops.

I cant help but think how this project would have fared with a different director who has an eye for filming LA (like Michael Mann). Not only does he have that eye, but he is good at fleshing out the "bad guys" in his movies to the point we dont look at them as "bad guys".

I was thinking the same thing that this should had been a Michael Mann film. And there's no reason it had to be over 2 hours. Good action scenes and Gyllenhaal is entertaining as the unhinged brother, though the humor is really hit-or-miss. And that ending is a total bummer.

I'd still watch this (along with the vast majority of Bay's filmography) over all the forced woke propaganda that the entertainment industry is currently forcing down our throats, or the any of the live-action Disney remakes.

one could argue this is woke having the morally corrupt brother being white, lesbian cop, gay couple, woke jokes, etc.
