I miss this show.. please recommend me another

I wasn't expecting to like this show. I keep thinking about it. I believe there are three major elements why:

- A tightly knit community: We have the immediate family, a bar, and the town. There's a story everywhere and the relationships are layered and complicated.
- The characters are depressed and trying to survive: I feel that this is the main motivation of all the characters. A common theme is "growing up" - even for Beau. No one is happy and they make many mistakes while wresting what it means to love each other.
- Smart comedy helps interrupt the inevitable that everyone is going to make big mistakes, hard work, guilt, depression, and no one can really win.

I'm still really surprised that I miss the show this much. In a strange way, it reminds me of Battlestar Galatica with comedy and without the death, major plot-twists, and rampant evil.

back in the fall with another 10 minute shows.
If you like small community shows, watch Northern Exposure from the 1990s

reply

Yeah, Northern Exposure was a great show. Also starring Barry Corbin ( Dale on this show).

Deliverance is about a nice little tight knit community in the Appalachian Mountains. Highly recommend for the whole family.

reply

Ha. Hahaha.

Try Louis C.K.'s Horace and Pete. It's not really a sitcom, but it is also filmed on a stage, and it is a tightly knit community with family struggles. It also has a few comic moments.

Letterkenny: about the Christians, Hicks, Skids, and Hockey Players of Letterkenny, Ontario and their problems.

Agreed. Letterkenny is a great succinct series of funny interactions.
