I thought the series ended perfectly with two situations that sum up the season: life on a ranch is hard and often miserable.
1. I think Heather's pregnancy is a bigger deal that people are making of it. This is a ranch in a tiny town. It's a conservative place. There can be no abortion. I'm going to guess that Colt will try to end up marrying Heather but nothing will come to fruition. Abby and Colt will probably get back together at the season's finale in season 3.
2. The bigger storyline is the dissonance between Beau and Rooster. Beau humbled himself and asked for forgiveness in his own proud way but Rooster rejected it and is obviously very hurt. He basically called his dad a liar and he's made it about the core of his identity: being a rancher. I think this storyline will be full of great pains and dark comedy... in fact, the show barley feels like a comedy. I'm not from the country but I feel the show tries to communicate what ranching life is like: hope will ruin you, alcohol keeps you sane, hold on to what little fleeting happiness you have, and things are always hard for people like the Bennett's.
