Hopefully This Becomes a Cult Classic in the Future

It has an excellent RT score, but I still feel that it's not quite getting the recognition it deserves

It has the sharp comedy writing that you would expect from Seth Rogen and his team. It is definitely a funny show But it's also more than that.

It doesn't just use sci-fi tropes as a backdrop for childish comedy. It presents a genuinely good science fiction story and mythology of its own. Yes, many of the plot threads are based on previously existing science fiction creations, but it manages to combine them in a way that shows how much the writers genuinely care about and understand the genre

I would say that the first season was definitely better than the second, but I respect that they decided to do something completely different rather than just do another season of constant time-traveling

A lot of the criticisms that I've seen online center around the fact that it uses "outdated bro comedy", which is a big no no in our current cultural environment. I don't think that's a valid criticism, since identity politics should not be setting the standard of quality. But even so, this show is actually pretty progressive. Wolf is a pansexual character, and he is sensitive an intelligent, not just the stock action hero that they could have made him. Tiger, a woman, is portrayed as the leader of the group and the strongest and most capable of the three characters. Josh is not just the archetypal loser character who magically saves the day and gets the girl. His character continually gets dunked on throughout the whole show, and the only love interest they gave him was just using him. Plus Josh Hutcherson is just such a likable comic actor

So, yeah. I know some people may think I'm full of shit, and that this is just an OK, entertaining-but-forgettable show. But I genuinely believe it is one of the best shows I've ever seen and hope that its reputation grows in the future, man (pun intended)
