The fat black cop character

Who thinks it's a big joke to wave his gun around and apparently the people who make this show agree. I winced when I saw this stuff. In this day and age of openly murderous psycho cops running around the United States and getting clean away with it for the most part, I fail to see the humor. I like the actor, but the character is too much of an aggressive dick for me to buy that Chip and Dennis and Cooler would be friends with the guy. When Chip tells him off towards the end of the season, you could tell he was wounded and he softened up a bit, but it just didn't work. He wouldn't have been that much of a jerk for that long without people having nothing to do with him.

I can see how you would feel that way, if you want to generalize people that way. Yes, you hear about incidents of police brutality on the news. Those are isolated incidents that the media THRIVES on. But for every bad apple, there are dozens more in the bunch that are good.

For the example in the show you mentioned, that's a bit of a different scenario. It was in a private setting, and the three characters know each other. They know he was joking, and he made it clear himself.

No one here said that all cops are bad.

But considering there are a decent number of bad ones, it's a terrible idea for any cop to play "pranks" where he pulls a gun on innocent, unsuspecting people. It's just in horrible taste.

And the whole "they're his friends, they know he was joking" thing doesn't make it okay. They obviously weren't okay with it at all.

They are friends so it's different. He wouldn't act like that with a stranger.

He can do it in LA because they have all been disarmed. If he tried it in Portland, his nickname would be "Collander."
