I mean, come on, Dr. Fletcher, why not see the girl, close the door, continue to LEAVE and get the cops? She was obviously an intelligent woman...this kind of put a damper on the end for me.

It's a well-worn cinematic trope that the psychiatrist thinks they can somehow control the patient ... and is proven lethally wrong
I dunno, I thought it played well. Fletcher's shown to be a little too confident of her cleverness in dealing with Crumb, and most importantly believed she had a surefire Jedi mind trick to use on him.

I guess it's good that you did, it would have helped keep the flow of the film if I could have.
