Perfection.
I rarely come to the boards much these days to share my thoughts about movies, I reserve IMDB to look up ratings and get some ideas about what movies to see or not see. That said, I had to log in to say this, if you see one movie this year, hell in the next 5 years and want to see incredible acting, go see Split.
I won't try to say it's deeper than a psychological thriller on some level, because it isn't. What it does, though, is amp up the quality of psychological thrillers and takes you on one hell of a ride while giving some of the best, stellar acting without it being over the top or cheesy.
To be concise or ramble, this is what you get with Split-
-no dragging scenes. Everything you want to know, there are answers.
-great buildup and nail biter scenes. Tension is nervewracking but great payoff.
-Brilliant acting on James McCavoy's part, he is easily one of the best actors of his generation. Subtle nuances give his character layers upon layers, like a delicate onion that needs to be taken apart. He is exquisite.
-the story itself has layers, isn't one dimensional but has an interesting villain and hero, sometimes you won't know who you're rooting for.
10/10. If this is the last movie I see for another few years, I'll be okay with that. Amazing.
I can go on and on...But I'm kinda drunk and typing is kinda complicating right now,
