I was disappointed

That the son is cheating (with a white woman no less) and the son in law is gay. Oh, don't forget Uncle Mac is a child molestor.
I get that pretty much the entire family is screwed up but we seem often more hard pressed to find just a good, hard working black man who loves his black woman in tv and in movies. It's much easier to find a black female who seems to have herself together (even if she's got issues, she's still hard working and loyal to her man and her family).
Grace is a strong, solid and likable character. I would like to see a male character like that.

Well, this is a drama so a lot of the character flaws are inherent to the genre. Just for perspective, think House of Cards where every single character is severely flawed and the ones that show "goodness" are usually victimized in some way.

As far as a strong and likable male character, I think that would be Noah. But if he ever evolves into a dynamic character I suspect a core wound will manifest into a critical flaw in his story before too long or he'll remain a peripheral character.

Yeah but who is going to tune in to watch that every week? If this were a comedy then it might be a little different.

reply

I'm enjoying it so far and I know a lot of others that are as well.

I love the show so far as well. The only thing I don't like is the plot of Grace still loving the ex boyfriend who is engaged to someone else and therefore making it okay to have an affair with him, I really can't stand plots like that but I can get past it since it is a good show.

I am and a lot of my co-workers and friends are talking about it, so I assume they will too.

I was disappointed also. I wanted Grace to become that preacher they all spoke about and make changes in the family and the community from that perspective. But, instead she has sex with Noah, who is engaged to someone else. This action proves her to be just the person her mother predicted she was.

So, she breaks up that couple -- she and Noah become a couple. Then what?? Are there any good guys in this show?

reply

selke, so true. I was disappointed that Grace slept with Noah. I knew it was going to happen and that Noah wasn't leaving to go anywhere, which I'm sure he is not now, but I was disappointed that she so quickly and easily slept with him and then headed to church in the morning.

The thing is, she is after Mac because of his molesting, and while that is a horrible thing he has done, sleeping with someone's fiance who is soon to be married, is also a terrible thing to do. It might not be a crime like Mac's, but it is still wrong. And she is pursuing that to the death. I hope she gets caught with her "pants down".

You guys don't like Grace for having sex with Noah but it's okay for Jacob (a husband and father) to cheat on his wife? I don't hear anyone expressing their disappointment with Jacob except for joycbeyda on what he did. To me Jacob didn't seem to care and his wife is an idiot for taking him back.

As for Grace and Noah, they have history and it was bound to happen that they would sleep together. I don't care for Noah's fiance.

What do you do when you encounter an old flame and all those old feelings come rushing back? She pushed them aside, but why do bugs fly into that light even though they see all their bug friends and family on the ground in a crisp after flying into that same light?

I think she would have stayed back IF Noah didn't indicate that he wanted her too. And if fiancé hadn't confronted her because she felt threatened by her.

Noah and woman weren't married yet and it had become apparent their impending nuptials was a mistake. It was obvious to everyone that Noah still wanted Grace. Would you marry the man knowing that?

Grace did nothing wrong. Hurtful, yes - to the fiancé, but not wrong. If they were already married, then her coming between them would have been wrong. Even if Grace and Noah don't become an everlasting couple, that fire between them had to be explored -- if for nothing else but for Noah to finally move on and be with his intended.
