One part drama... one part documentary. Neither parts work. Boring.

In the dramatics the acting is not that good which is part of the problem. You get the feeling early on that nothing exciting is going to happen because this is based on what we know now about Mars which really isn't all that much. We should have been there by now. It seems like things happened a lot faster when the US government led the efforts with the full support of leadership and the public. It's like we ran to the moon and we're riding a slow conveyor belt to Mars. Some of the docs-dialogue is so bad: "We need food for calories. We need water to drink. We need oxygen to breath.". No *beep* Buzz Lightyear.

It seems the producers tried to do too much in one production.

Interviews with Mars astronauts in 2033.
Interviews with NASA, scientists and private industry officials in 2016.
Drama of Mars mission in 2033.

Back and forth, back and forth . . . confusing; at least to me who lived the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo/Shuttle days. Nice try, but too much in one production.

What was terribly boring to me was the back story (if you can call it that) of the captain. Everything else I thought was ok though I'd rather there be far more shown about 2033. That IS why we're watching.

Yeah all the bs about missing their family and stuff is just stupid. We've seen the same story a million times and the acting is not very good. This whooe thing is an uninspired mess.
