Mission Problems in 2033: SPOILERS

It seems like some of the problems were seriously exacerbated by bad choices. Spoilers follow.

If Ben had let himself be evaluated and treated at the ship, he might have been in better shape for the trip to the workshop.

If they had not sent everyone and everything in the rover in one trip, it wouldn't have been 2000 kg overweight and probably would not have broken down.

With three days of air for the whole crew it would have lasted days longer for the reduced crew and Ben could have gone with the doctor and a helper in the rover, leaving the remainder of the crew safely for a return trip.

Etc.

The decisions and the decision-making process just overall seemed very unprofessional

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.
BAD WRITING and poor research.
Didn´t they have any advisers from NASA???
They should have, or id they did, they didn´t pay much attention.
