Why are the new arrivals so arrogant and jerky? Is it because they are supposed to represent the corporate mentality of the company?

Hana needs to grow a pair, she backed down way too easily over her recommendation of postponing the upgrades until after the storm season. I bet that the original commander (if he survived) would have told the new power grid project manager to take a hike out the airlock without her space suit if she overstepped his authority.

This was such a TV line. "You want to get on with your work? Well, I am making sure you succeed at it, and don't get us all killed" Easy conversation to have.
In general, does anyone plan to do anything here? This space agency has a very poor safety culture, and doesn't seem to want anything to succeed, just to accelerate schedules.
I didn't like Mrs. Richardson when she arrived and threw her weight around. Now I hate her for letting her husband kill himself. She did nothing when she saw the drawing. She must have had a conversation with the doctor over her concerns. And when the plants died, why wasn't she by his side? I know they set this all up for the dramatic ending, but she did nothing to see to her life partners' welfare at any point in this episode. I'd have more sympathy if she had, even if he still executed himself.
shareIf anything, this series should serve as an example/lesson to the real future Mars explorers of what not to do. See the mistakes these characters made (by way of their writers), and take steps to make sure those mistakes don't result in the loss of life or resources.
