About that door to the outside without an airlock


So the destruction of part of the habitat because of a single non-airlocked door caused a lot of critics like myself to point out how terrible a plot device that was. However, if you go here:

you'll note from the design that there are 2 airlocked exits and then a 3rd exit without an airlock. For emergency egress I guess. And in an emergency you'd want to be able to open the door quickly, so I would guess that the door would open to the outside so you wouldn't have a problem with air pressure. So maybe it made sense after all. You just have to assume that your psych profiles are accurate.

What is stupid is to assume from the start a single astronaut can't kill other astronauts or themselves very easily. This isn't a video game that a fictional AI is going to say "I'm sorry Dave, you can't kill yourself". Those are extremely fragile machines that even simple mistakes, like stubbing them with a sharp knife can kill everyone.
