Love this show but the way they ended this season makes me feel that it wont be coming back...

I want to know what happens after this. Is the strike a success? How does the ramifications of it affect everyone?
shareYes I want to know that too...and if Eddie will find success with Roy, and how he will process the death of his best friend. Eddie had alot of loss on this show,,with Cassie cheating, and Nick betraying him. It was good he accepted Roys offer to leave for a few months. I hope we get a third season.
shareI truly wish for a season 3 but sadly I don't think it will happen. If you think about it: Eddie got his big break with Roy and will be gone. Ron overdosed in a place no one even knew existed. He's dead and who knows when he'll be found. The strikers are "dead" to Goldie as she put it so no chance they will be performing in her club. Nick is clean and has a great gig as a morning dj. Adam and Ralf got a great review in variety so they are on their way. Who's/what's left? Cassie is the only one who crossed. It seemed to me a finale where all was wrapped up. I wish it wasn't so.!
shareYou are so right Robbie2499. It is all wrapped up. Cassie loves Goldie so she will stick with her in her venture. I felt bad for Ron, but saw that coming.... I love the show..They really depicted the 70s era perfectly, down to the clothes. I used to wear some of that stuff, lol.
I will never wear bells again, even if they are coming back in style. I said never. lol
You made me laugh with the bell bottoms! I'm glad you agree though I really, really hate to see it go. I went out today to my local Barnes and noble and bought the book. It is so parallel to the show only it really happened. If you're interested, Flower, the name of the book is " I'm dying up here; Heartbreak and High Times in stand up comedy's golden era by William Knoedelseder. So far it's an excellent read.

Some are Sharper Objects on HBO, Easy on Netfix, The Affair on Showtime, but you must start from season one, Nurse Jackie was good, as well as Sons of Anarchy, and Ray Donovan.... Ive got plenty more where that came from.
Keep me posted on the book too. Ive got stacks to read but if I can get it sooner rather than later, I will.
Is the book written as a story or just different accounts of the comics experiences? I prefer a story with a beginning, middle and end. I like to get invested in the characters, just like in a film, or series.
I've just started the book but it is based on fact. You will recognize many comedians and also the woman that ran the "Comedy Store" IS Goldie with another name. You will love it. You've excellent taste it tv shows as I also adore "Sharper Objects" though I read the book years ago so I know the "who done it" part. Another GREAT series is "Patrick Melrose" on showtime. It's a five part mini series. Watch it, you'll be hooked. I adored "Nurse Jackie"as well. Another older showtime series is "Masters of Sex". Excellent.
shareI loved Masters of Sex, so we def have the same taste in shows. I will try Patrick Melrose too. I usually like books better than the shows or movies, but many times I dont get to read the book first.

I will check "sharper objects" but be warned: I'm pretty certain I read it years ago. I won't give anything away. I too love to read more than anything. Sadly, I've MS which effects my eye site so it's a challenge. I do have a tablet, that helps ALOT. We sure do have the same tastes! As of August 8th, Showtime was still mulling over the fate of IDUH, but there’s no narrative-related reason for it to end, because the overall story is really just getting started. Goldie’s club won’t remain the end-all, be-all center to the show. We’ve seen how aspiring comics get started, being paid in exposure and connections rather than in cash. The picketers literally don’t understand what she means when Goldie snaps, “I HAVE paid every single one of you a thousand times. And of you can’t see that, YOU CAN KISS MY WHITE ASS! Fuck off!” Well, they can’t see that, because they’re too short-sighted. A few of them are starting to build their futures. Adam and Eddie are getting attention from trade newspapers and TV networks. Nick has a successful big-city radio show. Eddie is going to open for Roy in a posh hotel in the Grand Bahamas. The next step to the story is how they will handle their success. Clay and Ron handled it by killing themselves. We didn’t know Clay long enough to see it coming. He just walked right out of Carson’s studio and into an oncoming bus. We saw Ron killing himself, starting with him insulting his own TV show right on Carson’s couch. Carson said, during the commercial break, “The last comic who committed suicide on my show had the good taste to leave the studio before he did it.” Then we saw Ron pissing all over the opportunities flocking his way, walking away from a pile of money, walking away from becoming a producer as well as a star. Hell, even Elvis ultimately killed himself. Stardom requires real inner strength in the star so s/he does not crumble to pieces. Two comics who understand that Goldie HAS paid them are Adam and Cassie, and I think that they have the strength to survive fame and fortune. They can see the big picture. It took real guts for Cassie to cross the picket line and to be her own woman. Goldie will NEVER forget that, and Mellisa Leo really delivered the goods with that look of utter surprise and complete love when

We started with a local comedy club and a TV one-off special. We’ve now had a look at a network series, and were about to see a star become a producer and have creative control of his show. In a third season, we will probably have that with Adam. But how does one of them get to be a Carson, or a Carrey? How hard is that road?
shareYou should be a writer yourself! I agree with all your points, and hope for a third season too. Yes the love Goldie had in her eyes was priceless.. she will love Cassie for that for sure. I always liked Eddie..He got a raw deal with Cassie, she really hurt him. He just couldnt forgive her for going with Nick, but who could blame him?
I liked Roys character too, and loved him in Everyone Loves Raymond immensely. His character as Robert in that long series was hysterical. Would like to see him evolve in this series, as a guy that had a near death experience , and bouncing back. Heres hoping...

Some people called me the funniest man in Boston, which is quite a complement, with all the comedy clubs and collegians our city has. Did you know that most professional comics don’t laugh very much? Instead we tell each other, “That’s funny.” You’ll recall that this is true of the comics on IDUH. We process “funny” differently from the way that healthy people do. For us, it’s more programmatic and less visceral. We just do the processing much faster than healthy people do. Much faster. Speed is the key to funny. So is an apparent lack of effort—to one of the most strenuous activities imaginable.
