Loved the monsters

I won't get too spoiler-y here, but I'll just say that I loved the monster design. I haven't seen a creature this original since Alien or The Thing, and even though it is CGI, it does blend fairly seamlessly with the movie. Also, for those who haven't seen it yet, just know that the monsters have a lot more to their design than what you see in the trailer. Let's just say that things get Lovecraftian...

For me there were moments their CGI took me out of the film, maybe showing too much. But still fun to watch.

Yeah I agree, I really liked the design but the poor CGI was kind of a turn off (I know it's really low budget, but still). They should have done more of the monster shots in the dark or with quicker cuts.

reply

i think they should just have kept the monsters at distance

why reveal the poor cgi and destroy the mystique?

reply

I 100% agree. At a distance they did their job well.

Yes! The distant shots were the creepy ones. My husband always says how they ruin monsters in movies with the damn CGI. Sometimes the vagueness with your uncertainty and the unknown can paint a pretty dark picture!!!

reply

Yes! Seeing the creatures from a distance is what grabbed my attention in the trailer. I felt let down when they were face to face with it. The design was spectacular, but like many others the cgi threw me off. I hate when a movie spoon feeds a viewer.

There is nothing wrong with some mystery - sometimes things are s lot more scary when you say "what the f#@k is that?!"

reply

SOOO CREEPY! I absolutely loved them until they spread their wings. But just hanging out there in the open air...very spooky and major props to the creator of them. Very disturbing! ?
