Pointless

Not a ton, but there's more than several reviews I've seen saying this film is a mess and isn't cohesive. I will respect it being too slow, too gory, whatever, etc. as an opinion but come on. Honestly, if anything, this film is too cohesive. It makes too much sense. I don't wanna go into it but if you just want it explained, go to plot on it's Wikipedia (yes, I know...) page. Or a longer post on this board. Southbound is literal. Purgatory. Close to hell. All these characters have to make the right decisions to live and go on and if they don't, they're staying there. Going to hell if they can't make the right decisions. That's just kind of obvious but the DJ's words (read them all basically in quotes) tied everything together. I loved this film. You don't have to like it at all, but all the hidden meanings to tie this thing up are very detailed. This is a very solid independent horror film.

Yeah, but all that doesn't change the fact that the stories suck.

Why did they let the man trapped in the emergency room get away ?

reply

Because he could've left the girl he hit to die. He was in the middle of the road with no witnesses. But despite the absurdity of the situation, he tried to save her to make up for hitting her. In the end, he was repentant of his crime.
