One of the best series with a sharp reflection of our own society

At first, it might sound like another series focused on teenagers in a distopic world. But it turns to be a sharp reflection of our own society. Is this process fair? Is meritocracy fair? It appears not to be. Why do we have to have a society divided by 2? Just remember that in our real world 99% of people have the same wealth of the other 1%. Is it justified by what??

They could have built several offshore islands, or completely rebuilt most of the inland city for far less effort than they spent on the "process".

Good lord that makes any modern beuracracy look like streamlined and efficient.

reply

Well, sure they could have and yet they didn't, that's what make they even worse.

reply

They are all sterilized. The processes is the only way they have to repopulate the other side and substitute the aging/dying with what they consider the best

reply

90% of that could be done with simple genetic screening and intelligence tests done anywhere. Those that pass go through annual leadership/personality tests. The whole thing takes 0.1% of the time and effort.

reply

They want to test IQ, yes, but leadership and character. They want people who are not violent enough to put them in risk but they want those who are self centered enough to avoid reformist thought in their society.
