*SPOILER* Joana and Fernando

What bunch of idiots. Fernando without thinking just bolts. Let me get back to these slums even thou i have nothing to return to and am unsure of Micheles situation. Joana is even worse...naaah man i will rather live in this *beep* slum and die poor and sick with no family than kill this guy who wants to gut me anyway and then go and live on paradise island. Especially the latter was not belivable. Great series overall thou

Joana's departure was seriously out of character. That guy had hurt her, threatened her, even wanted to kill her, and was the very reason why she even ran to the Process. But she turned away utopia to spare his life--her? Why on earth? It made no sense.

reply

I think it was because she understood the guilt of taking a life and didn't want to go through that anymore. Sparing that guy's life may have been an atonement for her.

reply

What sevenexus said.

But she turned away utopia to spare his life

She didn't spare his life... she knew Ezekiel would kill him. She just knew she wasn't a killer.

reply

And she didn't want to be so weak as to be a weakling's killing pawn. She wasn't looking for a new boss.

reply

uhhm what you're complaining about is the exact point of the series. i think you missed it. you have to think deeper than that

reply

His life didn't even get spared in the end. After she refused to push the button, Ezekiel pushed it as he had her leave the room.

reply

The point of the process was to break down the recruits. Yeah they want what they think of as the best and the brightest but they also want to control and manipulate them. Joana did not want to be manipulated. Plus if they are smart enough and good enough by their standards then they don't need them.

reply

Exactly.

reply

Or maybe she knew if she pushed the notion Ezekiel would own her and that she couldn't stand.
