Did americans make this?
-Because it is literally filled with inaccuracies and propaganda. Not to mention the fact that they fail to mention that the true heroes of Maidan, those who were constantly on the front lines, and the first to take radical action and use physical force, were the radical nationalists, including groups such as Pravyi Sektor, Patriót Ukrayíny, Sich, Svodoboda, tryzub ns and so on.
No, instead we hear things such as "In Maidan we did not have nationalities, we did not have language groups, it was all people united who was against the regime"
"there were representetives from all religions on Maidan"
"all the different people come together.."
all of this cosmopolitanyst propaganda. The reality is that yes, Maidan was a peoples uprising, but there is no denying that it was spearheaded by the radical nationalists (what has happened post-revolution, with subversion from uza and pro-nato ngo's is not the topic of this thread). On maidan you could see the wolfsangel on flags and shields, as commonly as the ukrainian tryzub. You even saw swastikas, and people doing the roman salute. Nothing of this is shown in this film. Its like this is a completely revisioned version of the ukranian revolt, to better fit the views of western liberals and decadent democrats.
This is not the only issue I had with this documentary. For example, they constantly used the lowest possible numbers of dead and wounded. For example, on the 18 february clashes on Shovkovychna, Lypska and Instytutska streets, over 90 people were killed (confirmed by red cross and others) but they only mention that 30 died? And on Khreshchatyk died 20 more. Why use the low numbers? Wasn't the purpose of this documentary to show the heroism of Maidan? Also same with 6000 deaths in the civil war is false, as by the 2015 spring, more than 10,000 had died already.
There were other things as well, such as fake sounds being added (to make it sound more dramatic I guess?) and more inaccuracies too, such as confusing berkyt with bнутрішні війська.
Overall, this is not a very good documentary. It does not even include very good footage. If you are seeking to learn about the Maidan events, you are much better off reading about it on various pages online (as usual, you should stay away from wikipedia and such websites if you want true information) and if you are out to just see dramatic images, there are much better photography and videos of the brutal scenes of Maidan online, on youtube, liveleak and other sites.
