What happens after the detour 'ends'

OK this is some fun huh!

But I have to ask - I mean "The Detour" - How will they continue this series after they return home from their vacation?

Are they going to have a different road trip or vacation (The Detour) each season or what?

Hmmmmmmmm .....

.....  What are you looking at??? 

Probably. Vacation, road trip to a family function, business trip with the kids, moving, etc.

I think maybe you're getting a little ahead of yourself... don't most series, (save for a relatively small handful,) get cancelled; ran off the air within 1 or 2 seasons?
It's not a bad little show but the suitcoat exec's are probably already waiting to replace it with another Grey's Anatomy/ The Big Bang Theory/ General Hospital / same old tired, lame, formulaic mind mush.
(I've never seen any of those shows, except for a couple minutes of TBBT , by the way.)

We might not see them return home this season. It's all about The Detour. I think the clue to season 2 is at the end of the pilot/beginning of episode 2. Each episode Nate recounts the events along the way to a federal agent. The season ends with them making it to "The Beach", presumably in Florida. After that, something goes horribly awry probably related to Nate's former job and the pouch containing the drug under research that he hid behind a panel in his van "Blue Thunder". Nate returns to Penis-Lavania with the FBI/FDA/ATF/DEA getting involved.

I think that's where season 2 will pick up.

Waiting at home, wife Robin's sister Vanessa is house/cat sitting. Robin's last words to her drunk pantyless sister holding Moonie are, "Please don't kill her." That's begging for a callback.

It would seem that The Detour is not so much the physical journey but a reference to their entire lives taking a detour now that Dad's been fired and done whatever it is that brought him into interrogation.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Yes, exactly. :)
