the future

I'm hoping it'll take a Planet of the Apes direction. I'm nervous it may take a direction of there being militarized dinosaurs controlled by humans.

The ones that were bought will be bred and militarized. That is if the humans survive. But I believe you're right. The next step will be Jurassic Planet!

Or militarized dinosaurs against savage ones.

I listened to an interview recently with Colin Trevorrow where he said that the idea of militarized dinos doesn't interest him much and not to expect that to be a significant part of the storyline. I hope he sticks to that.

I like the franchise and its underlying concept so much that I hate to think there will never be any more films.

I have to believe that there are other interesting places to go with it, but I know that just turning it into a generic monster movie franchise is not the way to go. Whatever they do, it needs to be something that not only preserves the terror of the earlier entries, but also the wonder and the science.

Yea I took the military aspect of the movie to be more of a "Shame on mankind for trying to weaponize nature and make a profit on it" which is supposed to cement the idea that these men are indeed bad guys that deserved the punishment they got.

For me the idea of military dinos doesn't make sense. If your in the position where you can laser target your enemy your better off using a laser guided rocket rather then spending hubdreds of millions on aggressive dinos that are clearly much less obedient then a microprocessor.

If you want to see where the idea if militarized Dino's started, then read John Sayles' Jurassic Park IV script.

It was written in the early 00s and is batshit insane.

nah it wont go that far, the apes were able to to be dominant becos most of humanity was wipe out by the virus. The next logical step is for the government to capture or kill any of those dinos that posed a threat to humans.

reply

Logical, but, "Life finds a way" and all that. We'll see that the frog DNA that Blue has allows her to repopulate single-handedly somehow. Also, the end of this one showed rich people getting the DNA, so they'll be able to develop their own populations.

reply

Im sure that humanity can survive vs.. 20? 30? dinosaurs of which most were herbivours. 1 single tank would probably be enough.. Then again following the logic of this movie.. maybe not

reply

Yea the movies logic is to only use foot soldiers with underpowered rifles on the dinos so yea that type of military is doomed.

reply

Its like zombie apocalypse. A real world military would quickly put an end to it, but military needs to be neutered for the plot so it will be.

reply

Yeah the movie threw all logic out the window. There was no where near enough dinosaurs for them to be entering a new era for humanity.

Especially since there is likely a lot of natural things that will kill the dinosaurs before humans. The herbivores probs eat some bad plants and die. Some of them will be killed by other predators. Then guarantee there’s some animal based diseases that they would never have encountered that make the jump to them and fuck them up as well.

The carnivores will all be hunted and killed by either the military or thrill seekers who want to bag a T-Rex.

They easily could have solved this by making it so over the last three years the dinosaurs were being transported onto a mainland until the new island was ready. Their numbers continued growing because they were still breeding. They lie and say they have only been bringing over the herbivores none of the real dangerous carnivores.

Then twist reveal they actually had brought over carnivores.

The government in this movie though has ruled that they are endangered and should be saved. But then end of the movie they all still escape and because of strict laws in place they do have a tough time wiping them out because animal rights activists and what not point to them being protected. It’s still pretty illogical but least makes a bit more sense than this movie.

I'm hoping they'll just let this dead horse remain dead.
