Probably doesn't bother most people who can't tell, but the language that taliban and the other people of the region would be Pashto (aka Pakhto) and everyone in this film spoke Persian (Dari is a variant of Farsi, it is also spoken in Afghanistan but the characters in this movie would not be Dari speakers, they are Pashtuns and would speak Pashto.)

It detracts from the realism, otherwise good acting and a decent war action thriller. It's not meant to be saving private Ryan to make you feel the hopelessness of war, it's a popcorn testosterone movie.

The topography is all wrong. A-stan dont look like this neither do Santa Clarita, CA. This bothered me more.

Why do you mention Santa Clarita, CA? All the filming locations are in Spain.

So people who speak English and Italian would know the difference and be offended??? Or just the 0.001% of the viewership that actually speaks middle eastern languages and understands the difference? Sounds like it's just you. Got it.

Americans who spent time in Afghanistan over the last couple of decades might have noticed.

If you're watching the Godfather and everyone in Sicily spoke Portuguese, and you can't tell or don't care - good for you.

As I said, a tiny number of people. Do you honestly think the average person watching this movie knows the difference or gives a shit? No.

There are approximately 40million Pashto speakers. I wouldn't go so far as to call 40million a "tiny number.

That's more people than the entirety of my countries population (Canada).

While I don't speak a word of Pashto or Dari, as I watched this with my girlfriend last night I remember wondering out-loud why they'd be speaking Dari instead of Pashto.

So you don't really need to be a native speaker (or speaker at all) to realize if a language is incorrect.

I don't speak German, but if I watched a WW2 movie and the Nazis were speaking Zulu, it would be noticeable.

Are they watching this movie? No. 99.9999% of those watching don't have the slightest clue, or care.

Nobody gives a shit. I certainly don't. Not enough to get dragged back into a dumb argument that's already four months old. Get a life.
