Yeah she usually as kinda on the edge even if you just look at her from Son of Batman to now. She didn't care about her son at all

She always kind of was, but was under her father's guidance. Once he was out of the picture, her true nature and ambitions started to surface.

I think it was the result of the lazarus pit! After being revived from it and after a while it then went to her head and drove her MAD!!!
