She told him that she didn't steal the money - which we know she did. He took her bag and looked through it. It was empty.

Later on at her mother's, the money was right on top when she opened her bag.

Where did she hide it?

Maybe in the suitcase and since she confessed to Javier in the store and the propose of the money there's no point in hiding it.

During dinner prepping she got plenty of time to get the money from the car.
