Was anyone else stunned by the anal-sex scene?

I was at first...but considering how just before Letty was saying how he's not 'going down on guys under a bridge for drugs' bad, it could have been much worse lol

reply

That whole episode was a travesty. btw - she didn't say it like that. The language in the show, and the attempts at shocking the audience have totally driven me off it. Will not watch again.

You were born in 94? Nobody gives a sh!t about what you think.

Millennial = Homo Sapiens born 1990 or after; Losers who think they know everything but don't

reply

Yes, but for maybe different reasons? I am not against the showing of such a scene- we get to see Letty and Javier have sex, so why not sex between two men? However, I was surprised because of all the scenes in the show, this one seemed thrown in there to shock us, as opposed to furthering the story. In episode 4, Kyle seemed to hit on Letty and there was the shock of him using heroin. Why make him a closet gay too? I realize that just because he's married doesn't make him not gay/bi, but this just seemed to go against what we have seen in him so far. It will be interesting how much more character development they give Kyle.
In general, this show likes to shock us which makes it interesting. The Rob penis implant scene for instance- totally unnecessary but it fits with Rob's character.

reply

That penis implant scene was definitely weird. What was really weird was that Javier wanted to see it.

I don't know- wouldn't you be a bit curious? It wasn't like Rob was shy.

reply

He may not be gay, he might be doing it for heroin. His wife had said she was the money maker. Maybe when he left she cut off his access to money.

reply

Pretty sure he's not gay. Obviously Kyle's situation is getting worse, his job is gone, and he's selling himself for drugs now.

reply

I suspected it was coming after her comments to his wife about him giving oral under the bridge for drugs.

Don't f@ck with me fellas! This aint my first time at the rodeo.

Shocked. When I can feel something coming up that I don't want to see, I divert my eyes and hit the mute btton realll quick. There aren't many TV shows now that don't have this included in one form or another, from kissing to you-know. Unless one watches Christian or Family TV then one runs the risk of being subjected to morals & values which one doesn't hold. I, for one, know I Shouldn't watch what goes against mine. BUT I do, and sometimes feel nasty afterward.

reply

My reaction wasn't as extreme as yours. I just didn't expect it. I don't think I've seen many scenes like this in a regular tv show or on standard cable.

I've never, but there's always the first time. IMO the scene was written in exactly for the shock value, and to gauge viewers' reaction as to how far they CAN push it, and what we'll accept.

As an example: I still recall the first time, EVER, a part of the female body was shown NOT fully clothed. It hadn't been done with a male body either up to this point. When Sears aired it's first brassiere commercial, I RAN to tell my parents "You won't BELIEVE what Sears just showed on their commercial!". It was quite risque at the time. You'll notice the date in the article.

From that to now, one can say we've either come along way, baby, or our morality has declined considerably. It depends on one's opinion.

reply

What part bothered you? The sex part, the anal part or the two men part of it?

reply

I was more surprised than bothered. I wasn't expecting it. It's not every day you are watching tv and see a guy is getting cornholed from behind.

Easier than from the front!

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

reply

Surprised, but I didn't think it was too graphic. I didn't see any junk.
