Can't rewatch this one

I usually re-watch every episode at least once. But this one? No thanks.
Chad Hodge said we would see things from Letty's point of view, but I feel last night we saw her the way everyone else does. A self-destructive SKANK. Someone who leaves disappointment and disgust in her wake.

Javier was the only person who accepted her the way she is. And she EFFS him over two times over. Letty s*cks.

I disagree with Hodge about there being a 'chemistry' between Letty and Sean. You can see what a scumbag he is under the surface. Kudos to the actor who plays him. I only see a pathetic woman having cheap drunken ugly sex with her abuser who ruined her life once and means to again.:(

I agree with you 100%. I am so pissed at her for screwing over Javier twice. He has treated her well and with kindness. To turn around and f@@k him over after what happened with his family. Letty & Javier have so much chemistry and their unspoken looks speak volumes. Just so pissed at her.

I completely agree with you. Javier is a multi-dimensional character who conveys immense emotion with his gaze. Letty is disappointing, cliche and predictable. If the show doesn't renew with Javier in it I won't watch it. Javier, Estelle and Kyle have the most interesting characters in the show.

I think that ep pretty much ruined the series for me. I can't root for this woman. She's trash, and it's deliberate. I have absolutely no sympathy for her. She kisses her friend's husband that graciously allows her to stay in her home and begs her not to do her usual and screw her over. She keeps trying to force her way into her son's life, even getting custody, when she admits herself her mother has done a great job raising him (when she couldn't be bothered to get her shit together the first time for him), knowing she destroys anything she touches. She can't even not steal, not use and not be a skank while going through a custody hearing. She cheats on the one guy that is actually willing to patiently support her through all her deliberate chaos - after calling him to guilt and blame him for her planned bad choices. Then she rats him out for a clean record and her son, that if she truly cared about him, she'd keep some distance so she doesn't destroy him too.

I also don't see how Javier isn't ruined. If he goes to prison, the show loses the most interesting, complex character. If he doesn't and forgives her, he's a pathetic doormat that doesn't seem consistent with his character.

I see a lot of posts here basically conveying the idea that since they don't like the Letty character that they aren't liking the show but why do the two have to be mutually exclusive?

I can think of several excellent shows where the main character is extremely unlikable (Sopranos, Breaking Bad - for example).

I don't need to necessarily "like" the character but I do need to be able to root for them. I have to care about them succeeding, otherwise I can't care about the steps towards it. For the record, I absolutely loved Walter White. Was he a dick? Absolutely. But he was brilliant and interesting and his goals were fascinating, particularly watching him "win." I never liked Tony Soprano and I can't say that I loved Sopranos. Great writing and some great characters but the fact that I kinda just wanted the lead character to get offed didn't make for entertaining character driven storytelling. He just wasn't an interesting character to me. Boardwalk Empire's Nucky was an interesting, clever character. Same with Peaky Blinder's Tommy. Jessica Jones got a lot of hate for being a bitch but I loved her despite her supposedly being unlikeable. Homeland's Carrie has a lot of problems but she's not an uninteresting, selfish junkie.

So I don't think the character necessarily has to be "likeable" but I need a reason to care about this person succeeding or even living. I think the best thing Letty could do for everyone is probably die. That's not a very good statement for a character I'm supposed to invest in.

I completely agree with you. There is ZERO chemistry with Sean and Letty and that scene was beyond not watchable. I only kept watching hoping Letty would hit him in the head with her bottle of vodka.

The executive producers should pay attention to these boards because they threw away an audience that WAS dedicated to watching each episode multiple time. I won't bother wasting my time with the finale next week.

Are you listening TNT?

I agree! Letty is very unlikable after this episode but I can never understand how viewers can stop watching a show because of it. I don't think Javier will be gone for good. This is why it's a drama....guess I'm sticking around to see this character mature and redeem herself..... but I'm also in it for Javier too. : )
