Finale? next season?

So as some have pointed out there would be a way for the writers to "redeem" Letty and get her back with Javier, etc. and yes that did happen in the finale.

Was it believable? Certainly debatable. Again the huge plot hole of Christian having no consequences that we know of regarding all his issues, just because he led the FBI to Letty? Javier does another job in North Carolina no less at another posh resort, same scenario, meeting in a public place with cameras and then go to his hotel room, never made sense from the first episode. It is not like he is not a memorable looking guy. Then he drives the same vehicle back to Letty's house after he some how escapes the FBI. He then takes that same vehicle to run off with Letty and Jacob. Hmmm, the FBI knew where Letty lived and didn't have it staked out or anything or call the local authorities after Javier got away? I mean I guess they would have thought that was the last place he might go, but really?

Also Jacob who was so mad about not knowing he had a father is now okay with just taking off with Letty? Estelle just gives in and has no real objection to Letty taking off with Jacob despite her terrible track record even just in the last few days?
Oh and these guys will be really hard to spot on the run in the same vehicle even though they have descriptions of both Letty and Javier and now will eventually know they also have a minor black male with them. Yes there is the siren in the background......

As for next season if there is one should be interesting to see how they survive on the run now with a ten year old and no Tiff or Estelle to bail her out and take care of Jacob.

I wrote some of these exact thoughts at the same time as you and posted my own discussion. These were my biggest issues with the finale. Loved it until the last 5 min.

As you said, the FBI knows who they all are, knows what car he drives (good thing Rob didn't pick the black Land Rover or he would be screwed), and now they are on the run. I guess Jacob won't have a good education or stable home life for awhile. I really wish Letty would have changed her mind and left him with Estelle when Estelle was telling her all the things to know about Jacob. Letty and Javier can go on the lam and visit Jacob later when things cool down. I don't think Sean will come back so angry again.

I think the writers wanted to wrap it up into a "happy" ending, but then it makes no sense.

If Letty left Jacob with Estelle, Sean would have gotten to him. Sean was starting to show his violent side and it became clear that in the long run he'd be a danger to the boy. Previously it seemed he wouldn't be great for Jacob is Jacob's personality is more like Letty's than Sean's, more sensitive, and a hyper-competitive, macho parent could mess him up emotionally. In the finale became obvious that Sean is still mean and violent and I'm glad Jacob did not end up with him.

At this point, Letty is not ready to be a good mother but it seems that Javier will actually be a good influence on Jacob and a stabilizing force to their family unit. Loved Estelle's "Oh thank God" comment when Javier showed up, she's right.

The best thing for Jacob would have been for him to stay with Estelle, with Letty and Javier involved in his life. But that would have left him exposed to Sean.

Being on the road is not the best thing, hopefully they end up somewhere with new identities and more stability.

Keeping in mind, this is a fictional show and in real life being raised by a con artist and a hit man is really a bad situation for a kid.

On another note, did anyone else just LOVE Rob in this episode? I hated him at first meeting but he's really grown on me.

Also, as much as I'd like to see more of these characters, I'm also okay if the show ends here. It's difficult to see how they can take this story any further. The logical ending to this story would be Letty and/or Javier sacrificing their lives or their freedom for Jacob, and I don't really want to watch that.

Agree that was the premise they used for Estelle supporting Letty taking Jacob and running (threat of Sean) but that seems a bit thin really. It would be pretty easy for Letty to stay with her mom and Jacob and get a restraining order against Sean and the producers have more than once said his character is not all bad, though in every scene he seems pretty bad.

But of course Letty and Javier have to be together and Javier has to be on the run so they all three have to be.

Agree liked Rob this episode.

Agree liked Rob this episode.

I know, right? We're all set up to believe he's just another Tarheel loser, and it turns out he's a standup guy who really loves Estelle.

The scene where he's trying to pick the Land Rover was hilarious.

I also feel like the Sean excuse is flimsy. Maybe take Jacob away for a few days but there is a court order for Sean to visit Jacob in the summer and on holidays. I think Rob put Sean in his place and he won't come back for awhile.

Totally loving Rob and Estelle! Estelle's character had a wonderful arc throughout the series from us hating her to us rooting for her to keep Jacob. Everything Rob said was hilarious- I think he was my husband's favorite character. He was "INSANE"!

I have to agree with you, guys...
Started really well, Michelle Dockery was surprisingly good as Letty, Javier also OK - but the last 2 episodes were quite confusing. The custody battle seems pointless and it is really hard to believe that the FBI has no idea where Javier might have disappeared...
Personally I would really like the show to be renewed, would be interesting to see where the story will go from here...
