I blame the rampant racism on message boards for movies like this one. IMDB managed to have largely cordial discussions for years. But the trolling of the past year or so has killed this forum.

It says a lot (none of it good) that you would think any word ending with "tard" is a good insult. Also telling is your use of "snowflake", a signature epithet of white nationalists. I find it ironic that racists think liberals are so delicate when it was white conservatives who came unhinged at the sight of a black person using the wrong fountain or kissing a white person.
I imagine you have great difficulty with the real world, in which whites are a minority.

I don't care what imdb says about the "customer experience", I'm more cynical about the reason the boards are going away. I think it's either financial or legal reasons. Either the boards are too expensive to maintain or they fear some legal backlash from things people say here.
Ultimately it is about money, IMO. The boards have been deemed not worth the cost of maintaining them.
shareAgreed! I actually avoided the message board for this thread because of all the hate that I anticipated would be here. Now that it's going away, I figured I'd stop by and take a swig of deep-seated racism for old times sake.
Hidden Figures was an excellent movie. And for the record, proved that it IS possible to make an impactful period piece about African Americans WITHOUT even a single mention of the N-word. Well done!
I so agree with you! I saw it tonight, and I'm still blown away by the whole thing. I don't really recall any swearing at all in the movie, and certainly no racial epithets. It was so refreshing that way! And so very touching. I'm still a little teary over it for some reason, perhaps because I was thinking I wish the so-called president could see it. Seems like he could learn something from it, like how government is supposed to work to do great things, not just tear everything up and hurt people.

Because of what I experienced on this board, I am glad they are killing these message boards. The racism, bigotry, and white-supremacist views displayed on this message board alone to me, was enough to kill this message boards.
Every bigoted, racist, nazi white-supremacist circled this board like sharks. I am so glad the decision was made because these boards are visited by people all over the world and this is not the kind of discussion atmosphere anyone but the racists would want.
Adios and good riddance. Let the Nazi racist bigots find some other swamp to inhabit with their "alternative facts".

I've been posting in IMDB for over a decade and until last year I had NEVER seen the constant vitriol that has been spewing out.

Real shame, I enjoyed reading other people's thoughts on movies. It's also been a good place to get other people's opinions on interpretations of scenes, motives, clarifying plot points, etc.
I've been on IMDB for a long time now and it's always been a fascist forum without the need for trolls.
IMDB users are known for rejecting the opinion of others and name calling so they became an easy target for outsiders to trigger them.
I used to post on forums but I stopped realizing that it's mostly snob film school kids and anti-social introvert hipsters who hate people and they think their opinions are the only valid ones.
So in short, IMDB has always been the easily offended place on the internet. It's just now people are making fun of "you".
Note: Someone somewhere will shout "Go watch a Michael Bay movie" on the forum now.
Yeah it pisses me off that the boards are going away. I'm an actor just starting to get larger parts after toiling away for years, and I looked forward to seeing comments about my performances on my board, even if they were negative I wanted to see them. Now I won't get that chance. Thanks Trolls!!
