I am so glad to hear he didn't want to water down Olaf's villainy for kids. Carrey's performance was too silly to make Olaf truly threatening.

Bo Welsh is directing 4 episodes and Sonnenfeld is directing the other 4.... I think.

Thanks for sharing!
At first, watching Neil Patrick Harris talk about Lemony Snicket's series supports my utter hesitation of him being cast for the role. He doesn't seem to know the history/saga/meta-story of the lore which is crucial to his character. That he emphasizes "2½ hours of prosthetics" convinces me he's relying on those alone for his character. (And he says he's overt in this role... Well, the trailer and pictures depict otherwise.)
However, at 1:42 in, he briefly talks about the sheer terror of it, and they've just finished talking about the directors, and I have a bit more faith in the Netflix show because of the way they describe the horror-driven direction of the show. And he seems to take responsibility in playing the villain. (Until about 2:30.)
That brief 50 seconds from 1:40 to 2:30 gives me a glimmer of hope that he doesn't ruin the Netflix series. :)
