Just watched the second episode and while I'm really liking the show so far, they made some really stupid decisions of what to show and what not.
What genius decided to fill the show with filler like those (selected) contestant videos or machups, while glossing over half of the fights in 10 seconds?
For those interested, ABC is uploading those summarized fights in full form on their webpage.
And yes, they were better off skipped for television. None of them were all that exciting. Stinger vs. Captain Shrederator was alright, but that's about it.
There are also some technical breakdowns of each robot on the same site, so that's a cool feature too.

Unfortunately, they have to show 28 fights and they've got about six episodes -- one hour each -- to show them. That 4.5 3-minute fights per show. That leaves 45 minutes to fill each hour.

The problem was that there were 12 qualifying round fights, and they put 4 into the first round, and 8 into the second round. They would have been much better off doing six each episode. Even at six three minute fights each episode that's only 18min of fighting in a 42min episode, leaving four minutes of background to be done for each fight. I understand that some fights are going to be a lot more interesting than others, and they may already know how far each bot will go by the time the show airs, but do they not realize that people watch for the robot fighting, not the commentary. If you have to cut anything, give us less background, and more fighting, not the other way around.

They only showed us tiny bits of three of those fights because they were lopsided and lasted way less than the full three minutes. I agree with their decision to not go through the full fanfare of showing us background on each robot and designer only to see half of those robots crushed with one shot.
