I don't understand why...

Why would you build a bot and NOT have a way to flip yourself over?

You need to have three things to be successful:
1) A good driver
2) A way to flip yourself over (or be able to drive flipped)
3) A weapon (this could be as simple as a shield/ramp or more exotic)

So many bots are push/scoop bots or flippers. Half of the bots just have to be flipped over and they are toast.

I hate IMDB's Signature policy...

some of them just do it for fun, make something to play with and then just want to see it get wrecked...

or some of them are just showing off tech or different things because they can, some teams clearly can do way better and have done in the past but in this season it's seems heavily biased against certain bots, for example,

plan x vs a bronco ?

vertical spinner vs horizontal spinner ?

exposed wheels against spinners ?

sometimes the fight is over before it even starts..

seems to me being different/ having flair / trying something new is what gets people excited,

and considering most of what you said doesn't apply to many of this 'seasons' bots.. makes you wonder :P

but yeah i totally agree, i'd also add power/ torque/ and heavy thick armor and have the wheels protected or be solid enough to take hits.

AND keep the bot under 250 lbs?

reply

i reckon it's possible.

look at some of the bots armor in this season, if it's thin sheet it's gets tore off if it's thick metal it takes a few more hits or only gets bent/dented.

My biggest bot peeve. Too many ways to get flipped.

If you buy a ticket for a remake, you are the problem, not Hollywood.

reply

Cocky, they thought it wouldn't happen to them

I just started a topic about this same thing. I didn't see this thread though. I agree though, pretty short sighted.

Unless its part of your weapon, a flipper is going to take quite a bit of engineering, motors and power.

Put a 250 lb steel low slung box on the floor and try to just "flip it over" with just your hands.
