July 26 finale fight reviews (spoilers)

Tombstone vs Bronco: The epic battle I've been waiting for and it did not disappoint, it was brutal. Tombstone got past the wheels protection and took at one wheel. Bronco has the ability to right itself but not sure if it's ability was damaged from the hits or just not very efficient. In the recap they showed that Bronco missed an opportunity to flip Tombstone, not sure if it would have helped. The longer "lip" for Bronco didn't help. Then Tombstone gets cocky goes in for one more hit and its guts come out, looked like the batteries.

Bite Force vs Ghost Raptor: GR's new weapon did not help, original weapon would have been better, if only they had a spare blade. They also said they lost power after first hit but then it came back. I'll have to re-watch the fight. BF had more traction which I think is what made the difference. Not sure if it was from having the magnets or just weighed more, they probably spent a lot of time and money on the magnets so let's say that was it. Pretty boring fight though. I just don't see how BF can take Tombstone, but we'll see.

Rumble: except for Witch Doctor, they were not three of my favorites. Maybe they were the only 3 capable of still fighting. I wanted Witch Doctor to win after how good it did against Tombstone but it can't right itself. It's helper bot was trying but just couldn't do it, not sure why. It looked like Nightmare and Overhaul were double teaming WD. I'm upset Witch Doctor lost but I'm glad Overhaul didn't win.

Tombstone vs Bite Force: thought this would be over in seconds but it wasn't, I was wrong and I'm glad I was. Bad driving by Tombstone, when will they learn. Bite Force took control from the beginning and got in there. It's reinforced wedge was good against the spinning blade. They said they brought it specifically for Tombstone. Once Tombstone started smoking, it was over for it. He said it was the batteries. Gee, I wonder if it had anything to do with that last hit to Bronco. Good fight, better than I was expecting. The underdog won, good for Bite Force. Tombstone needs to do better driving and stop with the last hits just for show.

ABC. Please please please have another 100 seasons. PLEASE!!!!!!

Incredible ending. The whole series I couldn't even remember who Bite Force was, he seemed so forgettable, and then tonight he comes out of nowhere and dominates against the #1 bot who everyone was afraid of. At 9:00 I was rooting for Bronco, but a Tombstone win was fine too, I liked him as well as my second favorite. By 9:50 I was 100% pulling for Bite Force even though it looked like a long shot, and yet he's the only one who could go the distance without getting instantly shredded. Very impressed by how good he turned out despite looking so weak early on. Not sure I like Tombstone's driver though, he seems really cocky and smug. Yes he built a good design, but he seems too high on his horse personality wise. Like you say, those final hits just to drive the spike in deeper when he's already got it won came back to bite him in the ass finally.

I don't think anyone could have predicted Bite Force to take it, he did look like he would fall apart after one hit from Tombstone. Looks can be deceiving on bots as well. Tombstone's driver was too cocky but then again neither of use thought he could be beat so would we be any different? Maybe I would have after the fight with Witch Doctor, but apparently he was not and like you said it bit him in the ass at the end.

I predicted Tombstone to win it all and I don't mind being proven wrong after watching a lot of great fights in the last five weeks. I really hope we get more.

I was surprised that the tracks didn't get quickly mangled. Shame really as bite force was a little boring. Give me the destructive bots anyday.

reply

Did Tombstone get any good hits on the tracks?

reply

One hit on the side, no real damage. The hits to the front seem to push in the front shield to a point were it looked like it was stopping a tread from moving. However, Bite Force was still mobile.

I enjoyed the three-bot rumble (though I wish there had been few more bots involved). I've always been a fan of Smemtowski, it was fun seeing Nightmare showing off his destructive ways. That big hit on Overkill was just beautiful.

If you buy a ticket for a remake, you are the problem, not Hollywood.

Tombstone vs Biteforce: When Biteforce came out with that shielding on the front, I commented to my wife Biteforce was about to win. The Biteforce team saw how effective the extra shielding was when Witch Doctor employed it and followed suit. I liked how it was sloped upwards to redirect some of the force. Tombstone weapon just wasn't as effective.

That's one of the main reasons I love this show. There is no perfect design. Every bot has a weakness (though some you'd wonder if it ever had a strength). Tombstone was an overwhelming favorite to start, but it wasn't unstoppable. I'm not going to say any bot can win at any time, because a couple of those bots didn't even deserve to be there. But a capable bot with a smart crew can compete at any time.

I bet if they changed the brackets we would have had a different winner. And not necessarily Tombstone or Bronco.

That definitely plays a lot into it.

Epic finish of the season. Practically wins!

I don't think it was bad driving by Tomestone that lost it for him. It was him trying to get to the side of Bite Force to try to avoid a direct hit on the heavy wedge.

He never had to do much maneuvering in past fight since they overpowered most other bots. Also that big spinning blade effected how well the bot steered. Recall how Bite Force's driver asked which way does the blade spin. That determines how it moves in either direction. Turning right was probably easier than turning left.

In effect it was his design that lost it for him. Everything was about the weapon. Nothing about how to fight when the weapon was easily defeated. I also think that every time Tomestone hit something it damaged not just the drive motor but the batteries. Stalling a powerful motor like that has to kill the batteries.

Oh and Bite Force's better traction came from him using tank tracks, so he had a ton more rubber on the floor. I doubt the magnets helped much. Magnetic force drops off exponentially the further away you get.

The disadvantages of tracks is that it makes it harder to steer. His design though overcame that issue. He added wheels in the middle of the tracks that I think pushed down as he turned which gave him sort of a pivot point.

Good points on Tombstone and Bite Force, I need to watch all the fights again.
