They stole the design from the multi-time champion Hazard. It's a carbon copy. The only difference being the large knob on top where the gas engine for the blade sits. Hazard's motor was small and down inside the bot's cage. Other than that, it's identical in every way.
It's not like there's a lot of different weapon designs in the game. The rules are pretty strict.
shareI'm pretty sure Hazard has been retired. So the next generation is taking over. Things are usually adapted; it happens with pretty much anything. Facebook based its idea from Myspace, Amiibo with Skylanders, etc. When it comes to competition, it's usually a strategy to work similar to the best, not copying.
