June 30th fights

High June 30 fights

Brutus vs Moebius: first, this is not pro wrestling. We don't need a guy with weird contact lenses trying to make this interesting. It's already interesting. So I thought whatever the guns were firing actually took out Mobebius but it actually spinned out its own guts. Not sure if Brutus is any good or not but it looks promising.

Ghost Raptor vs S.O.W.: S.O.W. got itself stuck on its own mini bot and GR didn't take advantage of it. What was he thinking? Then when he finally gets around to getting the blade spinning, it looked like it hit itself. Kind of disappointed from someone with this much experience. There is something about S.O.W. that makes me think it's vulnerable but I don't know what. It's proven itself in the past so I must be wrong just can't shake the feeling.

Lockjaw vs Yeti: Lockjaw won, that was superior driving with a bot that took a beating and just kept going. This was my favorite fight of the night but how could that have been a unanimous decision against Lockjaw. I'm glad LJ got the wild card spot but disappointed in the judging. But I do think Yeti is a good bot and if used correctly has a chance to win

Witch Doctor vs Rotator: I always think Witch Doctor is going to lose and it almost always proves me wrong. I love that bot. I will stop betting against her. I'd love to see Lockjaw vs Witch doctor, two experienced drivers would make a great fight. But I did finally realize a flaw in these blade bots, if you can take out a tire you win. Witch Doctor could beat Tombstone if she can out drive him.

Mega Tento, why does this girl still think her design is any good. They keep bringing her back but I don't know why.

I was pleasantly surprised with Witch Doctor this fight and I feel that you're right. Some of these bots need to really protect their wheels better. They seem to be quite the weak link in a lot of the spinners. I don't really have suggestions and am not sure how I would build a bot, but I would protect my wheels and make sure it had some way to right itself.

Witch Doctor always surprises me which is one of the reasons I like it

Brutus vs Moebius: Not much to say here, Moebius basically committed suicide. Seems like all they were thinking about when they were designing it was power and in the end overdid it. Still, seeing robot guts spill out during the recap replay was amusing.

Ghost Raptor vs S.O.W.: Ghost Raptor's overconfidence was it's weakness. They had a good strategy going into the fight. The majority of the damage that spinners sustain, comes from the spinners themselves when they make contact. So by not using their weapon and let S.O.W. hit them where they are strongest was a smart approach. Unfortunately they underestimated the damage they could get. S.O.W. bent one of their armour plates enough for it to get in the way of their fork lift, which when used, pushed the armour plate into their own spinner, while also damaging their wheels.

Lock-Jaw vs Yeti: They say they take in consideration: Aggression, Damage, Strategy & Control, but apparently damage is all that counts, because 3 of those 4 were clearly won by Lock-Jaw. They made the wrong decision here, they made the wrong decision with Disk O'Inferno vs Chomp last episode and God knows how many wrong decisions they made during the fights they didn't show.

Witch Doctor vs Rotator: Again, not much to say here. Another quick fight with not much happening. They only showed this one because Witch Doctor is apparently a fan favourite for some reason. I would've preferred to see some of the other fights which from the recaps looked a lot more interesting.

WILD CARDS:
Can't really judge some of the picks because they didn't show their full fights but from the little we've seen, there are some questionable decisions. Disk O'Inferno was already robbed of a win by the judges and they don't even give him a Wild Card? No, they give it to Bombshell, a completely ineffective bot that did nothing against Complete Control, Mega Tento, which from the little they showed, seems like it also did nothing and Blacksmith, which while putting up a decent fight against Bronco with it's tenacity, is still armed with a useless weapon.

I rewatched Ghost Raptor vs S.O.W. and you are right about what GR was trying to do. Maybe if he had cornered S.O.W. and got him to hit the wall while the blade was at max power it would have damaged itself enough. It could have worked.

i found the gr vs sow match was a set up from the very beginning, gr had no agression the weapon never got upto full speed and when the match was clearly going one way gr commited suicide.

the only reason lock jaw lost the judges decision was for the wild card...

I just posted a new thread about a new rule which explains why Lockjaw lost.

Re: Mega Tento. Lisa Winter gets extra consideration because she's legacy, and that her bots are 'interesting' to some, but also terribly ineffective. She falls in under novelties.

Her next fight should take care of that.

If you buy a ticket for a remake, you are the problem, not Hollywood.
