That was superior driving the whole time. and that bot took a beating and just kept going. I completely disagree with that decision
But, I liked Yeti and think it should have been in the wildcard spot if the judges didn't give it the win
It did have control, but it looked like another hit or two to that one wheel and it would have been knocked off. I forget which wheel it was, but it was loose. Also, it seemed like one of the earlier hits damaged the Jaw itself, so it could only clamp and no longer flip. I could be wrong about that, but it never tried to flip after 30 seconds to a minute in.
shareYou are correct about all the damage but it still managed to control Yeti for the majority of the match. It's not that I don't think Yeti is good, it did a lot of damage and got itself loose with good use of its secondary weapon. But just feel LJ had control the majority of the time.
shareThey say they take in consideration: Aggression, Damage, Strategy & Control
But apparently damage is all that counts, because 3 of those were clearly won by Lock-Jaw
I really hope we don't see more bad decisions but the cynic in me doubts it. Kenny Florian has mentioned several times that you don't want the decision to go to the judges. I thought he was just speaking from personal experience while in UFC. But maybe that was filmed after the fights and he said it because of what he saw.
shareThey were both super aggressive so id split that, so 2.5 to lockjaw and 1.5 to yeti. Still a bad decision.

What fight were you watching? Every time the two robots collided it was because Yeti got up a head of steam and rammed Lock-Jaw. He was clearly the aggressor. Plus, that was his stated strategy, so, at minimum, he tied on strategy.
Whenever a match is decided by the judges, they always go out and examine the robots for damage. Apparently, Yeti did far more than Lock-Jaw.
The judges made the right call, even if it was the unpopular call.

What Would Jesus Do For A Klondike Bar (WWJDFAKB)?
Control = Lockjaw , better driver,stronger drivetrain
Strategy = Yeti / Lockjaw. Attack Attack Attack for Yeti, use of arena weapons for Lockjaw, but had little to no effect on a lightly armored Yeti.
Aggression = Yeti repeatedly attacked Lockjaw head on, even after being pushed around. Still went head first into the Jaws
DAMAGE == YETI YETI YETI , use of primary weapon , broke Lockjaws prime weapon in the first 20 seconds...
I'd gave it too Yeti on 3 out of the 4, Plus the " primary weapon damage " they used in other decisions.

To me it was a toss up on who the judges were going to pick. Based on what was shown I would have tossed a coin.
What I found surprising was that it was unanimous.
It was a lot closer decision that the other 2 that I thought were won by the wrong bot. Chomp was more of a Chump, I have no idea how it won. Beta was a little better, but still should not have won. Like in all 3 I was certain the loser would get to move on as a wildcard, so it wasn't that big a deal.
The most egregious thing was Ghost Raptor not only being a wild card, but the 2nd highest ranked one at 18 seed. Higher than 8 of the bots that ACTUALLY WON THEIR MATCH.
Hopefully the rest of the fights are knockouts, I don't want anymore judges deciding
shareThey knew both bots would go through via (win and a wild-card), so I wouldn't be surprised if they gave the match to Yeti, since they knew Donald Hutson wouldn't care.
Still waiting for the day Hutson does a scale down version of Diesector. (which Lockjaw is close)
If you buy a ticket for a remake, you are the problem, not Hollywood.
Another thread on here mentioned that they had a rule change this year. If you push around another bot the whole time but don't use a powered weapon for attack, it's defense and not offense.
