Bots that spew out fire

...I'm surprised someone doesn't build a bot that spews out fire retardant foam or a bunch of CO2 as a countermeasure.

Or maybe a robotic arm spraying a bottle of seltzer water like Bugs Bunny did to the dragon.

fire seems pretty weak i dont think it would be worth the weight

I can't believe fire didn't even begin to melt Tento's plastic bug lid. They must be using some low energy fire.

i read somewhere that it is coated with fire resistant stuff

Fire may same powerful but when you put it against a bot that moves fast and can saw through metal it isn't. I admit I thought the same but after just a few episodes I was wrong.

Yes, that is why the fire breathing drones that look "impressive" are really almost useless (except as a crowd pleaser when a rake takes one down LOL). A drone can't hold position for more than a split second over a moving bot so the fire doesn't have enough time to start cooking anything.

The same holds true (for the most part) with a fire using main bot. That is unless it has a way to lock onto their opponent and keep the fire going on it.

The only fight from this season IIRC ending with a flaming main bot was when Complete Control went up in flames and it was pretty spectacular. Both it and Warhead have flame weapons. Evidently Warhead's flame interacted with something inside Complete Control, which I would point out was a mobility casualty at this point and I think stationary.

The only robots that have used flame throwers effectively like you said Complete Control and Warhead. Warhead also set another robot on fire that Overlord robot. But flamethrowers are rarely effective just like drones although drones are very new so maybe someone might come up with a way to make them effective. Maybe.

Fire has some use, but if the opponent is pinned or is unable to escape, it's already in trouble. The fire is an afterthought. :)

It would be amusing if a bot came out with a sheet of ice strapped to its head. But I severely doubt BB would allow it, if for no other reason that they'd hate cleaning up all the water. Still, fire vs ice would be cute. Maybe a demo fight at the end of a tourney just for some extra amusement?

fire retardant foam

I'm sure they don't want any type of liquids to be spewed into the ring. I know, it's foam, but it also may be too easy to seep into the other bot and ruin the electronics, so liquids may be out.

Now the CO2 would be nice, but like others have said, fire doesn't do that much damage unless locked onto the other bot.

I think I heard somewhere that chemicals were not allowed, with the exception for fuel for fire.
