Interesting to read people's thoughts

When an ending sucks I normally agree, because I am definitely all about ending movies the right way. However, a lot of people for this film seem to have opposite view points from my take on the film.

I feel the other way. I think the beginning of the movie was asscrap. The middle got a little more interesting. But it was when shi* hit the fan that I think it got pretty creepy, and the ending in my opinion was creepy AF. The very beginning as well (which is basically the ending) creeped me out.

Something about making really stupid decisions -- and then realizing the consequences of your actions are catching up to you--- not understanding what is going on completley but knowing you're EFFFEDDD--and her ending up in a hell cell (this isn't real I just made it up, whatever that room was which is open to interpretation) and seeing someone completely trapped....it's kind of said in other films about hell, it will be more personal and different for everyone. Hers was creepy in that her mouth was stitched closed which is creepy enough on it's own (yeah the poster is bad) but in the film it was gross, and she saw that doll in the shop which I guess is something that creeped her out the most, and she lost her arms which is also scary. So you're sitting in a cell, your friends are gone, you know you're in hell, you can't move or speak (probably one of her biggest fears coming to light) and then either a Demon or Satan grabs her phone and is obviously going to torture or kill her and she will either re-live this for eternity or be stuck in that realm for eternity. It's a creepy feeling, and I think they actually did execute that well.

The only thing I would have liked to seem more would be to have seen Elise, Seth and Davids death. For one because I absolutely hated all the characters in this movie. None of them could act. They were all dumb characters. I wanted to see them die lol. But also since the movie as whole isn't "great" just to add creepy factor to it, it would have been more interesting to see personally what all their own hell was and not just hearing them scream and seeing flashes of them.

I give this film like a 4 out of 10. For parts that were actually creative that I haven't seen in awhile in a movie, and some parts that felt and looked creepy.

But yeah the script and the acting were abysmal. I think Sarah Hyland, even with all the plastic surgery is one of the prettiest actresses in Hollywood to be honest. But in this her acting was just cringe worthy. And don't get me started on the other 3. I guess the guy who played Seth was fun and quirky but not the best actor. Whoever played Elise needs to never be in a film again. Same with David.

Anyway, the movie wasn't one of the worst I have seen on netflix in terms of below average to average horror films.... it kept me entertained and I enjoyed the story line and plot actually. I think with different actors, a far better script and altering the ending it could have been pretty rad. I think Satan/hell movies are very interesting and can be horrifying if done well. I did like that they didn't involve a church or a pastor. Those cliche's can really ruin it. I liked it all just being on the side of the Satanists and idiots following them into that world and not finding some Priest to try help them. I would rather see some crazy Satan worshiper slit her throat in a hotel room than hearing "The power of Christ compels you!" over and over again.

It's a shame this movie is poorly written, directed and acted, because the ending itself was pretty much haunting. If we stop to think, she is probably trapped in that small box for eternity, alone, mutiladed, with no hope, no chance of ever getting out. A terrifying fate to be paid over a choice she and her friends made knowing very little. Pretty unfair, in my opinion, but that was the writers objective, despite being poorly executed. I don't really believe in hell or any kind of afterlife, but have to say that that was a pretty hopeless depiction.

They should've added more depth to it's mythology. What was that whole "beautiful confusion" thing? Why did Alice wanted so much to be sent to hell? Is hell the same for everyone? Maybe not... She said she would guide them through the darkness. Maybe she really knew what she was doing, maybe not. I wonder who was the one holding Chloe's cellphone in the ending: Alice or the devil?
