I don't find the other characters interesting enough to care about them, Eddie is especially frustrating, Sarah is usually unlikeable and has a better than you complex, the kids are annoying as is Mary..
Cal does bad stuff but he is interesting so I'm all for him getting away with it..

Some other people have pointed out that his position is strange given that he seems so unpopular with pretty much everyone, so really he has to get away with it for the story to go anywhere. If the FBI find out he killed somebody, it seems nobody would mind. As it is, he can decide the only way is up and commit to asserting himself as a leader, knowing he's got rid of a barrier.
If people were overflowing with devotion, it would have been interesting to see how the movement reacted to the FBI finding out he's been a bit of a tosspot

Yeah, he's kinda dug himself a hole now. He has to stick to his "path" (those jokes are just too easy) or he risks blowing himself up in the eyes of the movement, even more than he already has. He turned a corner, after that murder, that he'll probably never come back from.
Do I root for him? I don't know, but he's the most compelling character, I think. I applaud them for making him more humane than an out and out, cliched, creepy cult leader villain though.
Does anyone else wonder if he'll actually be the one to end up trying to ruin the movement if it totally rejects him? Like he'll be forced out or something and aim to take it down, therefore switching sides in a sense? Just a thought that's occurred to me once or twice!

Hugh Dancy is so amazing in the role that i can't help but root for him regardless of the bad things he does. His character is without a doubt the most interesting, without him the show wouldn't be half as interesting.
Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age.
He's fantastic in this role, and yes without him the show wouldn't be interesting, at all..

You see Cal's true colors and he really has no redeeming qualities at this point. It's all about him not wanting to lose his power and he will use, lie and kill anyone in his path. Eddie has been a tough character to connect with but I'm rooting for him to take Cal down.
I had cal pegged as an untrustworthy sociopath ( or at the very least, a narcissist ) from the get-go , but I do love Hugh Dancy's performance.

Kudos to Dancy because he's doing an AMAZING job with him (such a shame is so underrated as an actor).

he is just about the squirrelliest mofo who ever lived, i hope he gets beat to death in the show. the actor must be something else because that looks like an impossible role to play off. the guy is a sociopath, explains lies with more lies and tells people that he explained his lie...lol. he is going to go down as one of the great bad guys in tv.
